New Year's Resolution: No Pain!
I really enjoyed Dr. Stutzman’s post last week on how to keep your New Year’s Resolutions.
I meditated a bit on the post after I was done and I’d like to share with you what I concluded.
1. If you’re in pain, your one and only New Year’s Resolution should be to get and stay out of pain.
I meet a lot of people that haven’t been 100% pain-free in years.
Some have mild pain, and they tell themselves to push through. They don’t realize their pain may be caused by a problem that will get worse and harder to correct as time goes on.
Some are in pain so great they’ve had to give up the sports and activities they love most. Their pain affects every aspect of their lives, from not being able to tie their shoes to not being able to play with their kids and grandkids.
Here’s the thing - everyone that’s in pain, regardless of how bad it is, is living below their potential.
Pain causes many things to happen, both in the mind and body. Pain creates tension and imbalance. Pain makes being happy and carefree more difficult and makes anger and negativity more accessible.
I think about John Lennon when I imagine a world where people are healthy and pain free. It’d be a much happier and brighter world.
This is a huge part of why I started in Chiropractic care.
2. If you’re in pain, self-care is the way out.
I know this is a very simple and short list, but in my opinion, these are the 7 key things to focus on.
Focus on the following each day and take note of your pain. I’m willing to bet it gets better over time.
Drink water! (I’ve got a whole post about that here)
Cut out the sugars and processed foods, stick to eating organic foods.
Sleep more!
Meditate! (here’s a TedTalk video for meditation newbies that helped me)
Yoga! (depending on injuries, etc)
Regular chiropractic adjustments
Massage
Stick to these very simple 7 things and let me know how you’re doing.
Thanks for reading!
